If you pour 5.5 quarts of liquid into the pot, it will fill it to the top. When I poured in 5 quarts, it only came up to just below the rim where the glass top sits. So, I would consider this to be a 5-quart crockpot.

I love how the pot cooks evenly on any setting, but I am concerned about the base getting very hot. It's hotter than any other crockpot I've used.
