After waiting for about a month, I am finally reviewing this item. I had previously purchased a different brand of 0.5 liter electric kettle which burned out after only 3 weeks of light use. As a result, I was a bit hesitant about trying this brand, but I am happy to say that I have not encountered any problems so far. It does take a bit longer to heat the water, but it does shut off automatically at boiling. I'm not a fan of having to wait several minutes between pots to heat additional water, but that won't happen often unless I'm brewing a whole pot of tea instead of just a mug. The design is a bit cumbersome as the lid doesn't come off to fill the pot and it tilts on its axis, making it a bit tricky to pour water into it. It's also made of plastic, which I don't like. However, I do like the feel of the pot - it's sturdy and the weight is just right. I also appreciate the large clear fill line window on the side and the fact that pouring does not release a lot of steam on my hand. Overall, I believe that this pot is the best option for a 1.7liter electric kettle without spending too much money. The capacity is hard to find and I unfortunately had to settle for this one after returning a stainless steel pot that suffered from poor quality control.

This is much better than my old stove top tea pot. It's convenient and stays clean.
