Review by TH / (Posted on 2/18/2024)We have enjoyed using this doughnut maker multiple times, and the kids absolutely love the doughnuts. Although I initially thought it was for them, I realized that it requires an adult to operate. You need to use a toothpick to turn the doughnuts halfway through baking and to remove them. The recipes provided make about 3 batches, and we mainly use the banana recipe when we have ripe bananas available. If you want to make a large quantity of doughnuts or use a cake mix, I would recommend getting a larger model, as using this one can be time-consuming. Despite this, our kids love the small doughnuts, and we appreciate being able to control the ingredients. It's a great activity for the kids to decorate, and we even made a doughnut tower for our child's birthday, which was a hit with everyone! -

Unfortunately, I don't have the box to return it, but I might try using the egg bites or cake/brownie mixes. It's a shame because I usually like Courant products, but this one was a letdown. At least I got it on sale.
Update: I decided to try using box cake and brownie mixes and it completely changed my opinion. It turned out much better than I expected. -

I used 2 Duncan Hines moist cake pudding mixes (red velvet & triple chocolate fudge) and followed the box directions to make the batter. I found that filling the maker close to the top worked better for me, as the cake mix seemed to shrink and puff up when cooking. I had no problem flipping the treats, and they came out moist and delicious. Overall, I found this product easy to use and easy to clean. I now own 10 Courant Mini products and I am starting to experiment with each one. So far, the 8 Griddle, 4 Grill, and Mighty Blender have exceeded my expectations. This one makes 4 products that I would give 5 stars to. I wish I could give it more stars! -

I agree with another reviewer that you need to add more milk (a total of 1 and 1/2 cups) to achieve light and fluffy donuts. The batter was slightly thick, making it a bit challenging to fill the machine, but the donuts turned out well. However, I personally prefer fried donuts over baked ones. The recipes provided in the instructions were delicious and the toppings turned out great. The donuts baked quickly, but I noticed that the middle cooked faster than the edges, so I started filling the middle mold last. It's important to note that the machine gets very hot, so it's not safe for young kids. While the machine is easy to use, cleaning it is a bit of a hassle. Overall, I would recommend this machine for anyone looking to quickly and easily make homemade donuts. It's a cute and convenient option. -

This one comes with a recipe book for various types of mini donuts and different glazes like vanilla, chocolate, lemon, and Nutella. The only issue is that it says not to fill it to the rim, but I found that some of the mini donuts look pale if you don't. Overall, my family loves it and the donuts taste amazing! I highly recommend it. -

The quality of the mini donut was very cheap. Therefore; moral of the story is, you get what you pay for. I love the eggshell white color that is what attracted me to this product. I would not recommend to anyone. I would not buy again. I would purchase a more well known brand name for taste! But, if you are a newbie and just want to practice with your kids, the perfect little donut maker and it's affordable. -

The only and unfortunately much needed is a lock to keep it close when cooking. It doesn't seal, leaving a big gap in the front and as soon as the donuts start raising it opens more leaving an uneven cooking/color. Needed to put a heavy item on top to get it to work.

Today I was getting it from my pantry where it was sitting on a little bin that is 18 inches high - as I grabbed it it slipped out of my hand went to the floor and completely shattered. I would���ve expected a lot more durability than this. It���s completely unusable now. It was great while it lasted snd I was planning on getting more than one use out of it - manufacturer should probably use a little better quality shell. Now I have to go break the news to my kids....?? -

He immediately unpackaged it and followed the recipe on the side of the box. We made an easy frosting for them and they were delicious! The donuts were slightly smaller than expected but the same as mini donuts you would buy at the grocery store. The whole family got involved in decorating them and we had a great time. Next time we will remember to add the sprinkles before the frosting dries ??. I am really impressed with how easily it cleans up. I predict many donut nights in our future!! -
