After struggling with slow boiling times on our gas stove in our cooler climate, we decided to try an electric burner. After researching, we chose an infrared burner and are very happy with the results. It's not as fast as an internal heating element, but it's much quicker than our stovetop. It has made cooking much more efficient for us.

This replaced a simple 12 year old unit, which was very basic and cheap. I didn't realize how much I had skimped on quality until now. The glass top ensures even heat distribution, unlike the old unit which had a hot spot in the middle. The control knob turns off the element completely when fully counter-clockwise, which is convenient. The markings for temperature control are clear and easy to see. The old unit had a design flaw with the coil, which resulted in frequent wire breakage and countless repairs. This new unit should work better due to the glass top keeping the coil in place. I am thrilled with this unit and will never go back to a cheap one.

I rarely write reviews, but I was really impressed with this product. I had considered buying cheaper hot plates for my kitchen remodel, but I was put off by their instability and inability to get hot enough. I eventually decided to purchase this one and I'm so glad I did. I followed the start-up guide and let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes, and although there was initially a slight odor, it dissipated quickly. The hot plate got quite warm on medium heat and heated up our unheated kitchen corner. The temperature dials were a bit hot to the touch, but not too much to handle. When we tested it with a pot of soup, it started bubbling within a minute. The cast iron plate heated up quickly and evenly, although it retains heat so it's not very responsive to changes in temperature. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase and can see myself using it even after the remodel is done.

I used this 21qt water bath canner with this burner to can. The burner got the job done but was a bit slow to get to boiling. It got very hot, including the knobs. I recommend using hot pads and putting a trivet underneath the hot plate. My larger canner seemed too large for this burner, but I was able to process 23 jars in half a day.

We bought one of these years ago and it worked great outdoors. We accidentally left it outside and it got ruined, so we bought another one. They work well outdoors, but remember to bring them back in. They have great heat control and heat up quickly even in colder weather.

This appliance is perfect for cooking on the go or in small spaces, as long as you have electricity. It has been reliable for two years, making a variety of meals without losing its ability to heat. I recommend using it outside for the first time to burn off any residue. The dials' numbers have started to rub off, but it's not a big issue for me. I usually don't use settings above 4, even though it goes up to 6.

This little hotplate meets all my requirements but I am still learning how to cook on it. It heats up quickly and retains heat well, but I am having trouble controlling the temperature. It takes a long time to cool down, and I need to figure out the temperature settings before using it again. It cooks faster than I am used to, so I have to be careful with the heat. Overall, I am looking forward to using it for stir-frying in my wok.

When my oven unexpectedly shattered during my kitchen renovation, I ordered this hot plate as a temporary solution. It has proven to be just what I needed. For smaller pots or quantities, it heats up as quickly as my old electric stove did. However, dealing with large pots, such as when cooking spaghetti, has been challenging. I've found that preheating the water in the microwave and keeping the lid on while heating is necessary. I suspect this might be a safety feature, as the burner shuts off when it reaches a certain temperature, which can be incredibly frustrating. Just as I'm about to finish cooking a pan of cheesy scrambled eggs, the burner shuts off, making timing meals nearly impossible. While it's a great option to have while waiting to purchase a new stove, I don't believe it can fully replace one.

I followed the instructions to heat it for 5 minutes, then boiled 5 quarts of water and it brought it to a rolling boil in 22 minutes. I use it to heat up my sparge water when brewing on my all-electric brewing station and it does the job perfectly. It brings 4 gallons of sparge water to 168 degrees in 40 minutes.

This burner works great on my truck and doesn't draw too much power. It cooks well and the legs are high enough that I can use it on top of my burner without the bottom getting hot. This appliance allows me to cook with my existing pans while I wait for my glass stove top to be replaced. It cooks well and makes it easier to prepare quick meals, but I wish the temperature settings were easier to read and that the surface was more durable for use with cast iron pans.
