We required a countertop burner during our kitchen renovation, and I wanted something basic (this) along with another more powerful one. Surprisingly, this little one outperforms the fancier option. Despite seeing other reviewers complaining about boiling water, I was pleasantly surprised by its performance���it boiled a small/medium-sized pot of water within minutes, much faster than my old electric stove did. While my more expensive model has more overall power, it takes a while to get going. This one, on the other hand, heats up super fast to full heat. Once the remodel is done, we plan to take this on trips or use it on the deck. Highly recommended!

Portable stove quality issues have always been a problem when people want to buy them based on price. Knowing the Courant other more expensive company Hamilton Beach they have a commercial products division I gave this stove a try. The stove is only good for about a 4-quart pot that can sit on a 5.5-inch heat coil. There is a noticeable metal expansion contraction noise. To see old similar quality stove at an auction website search for a "broilking buffet stove" those are 1100 watts with infinite heat control and more expensive for used.

I'm really pleased with this purchase! I use it as an extra burner to protect my glass countertop from rough cooking. It's great for small to medium-sized pans. It took a few uses for the temperature to stabilize; initially, it ran very hot, but now the knob setting matches the heat level well. It cools off quickly for easy cleaning, although the light staying on when plugged in is a minor annoyance. I simply unplug it after each use to avoid any confusion.

I ordered this to use as a burner for the dinner table to use for hot pots. However, the cord is very short. It will work fine on a counter; however, if you use for the dinner table, you'll need to use an extension cord. Other than that, it has legs for safety and heated up our pot well.

Overall, I'm pleased with this attractive hot plate. I purchased it to replace another brand that died. One feature I prefer is the ability to raise the coils for cleaning. However, it lacks visible markers on the dial to guide the cook regarding the amount of heat being used, or an indicator light to show when the element is heating. It does have a light that indicates the unit is plugged in, reminding you to unplug it after every use. It's been working fine, and we use it multiple times daily for heating water or soups. We prefer not to use the gas stove unless absolutely necessary.

This single burner hot plate is of high quality, very efficient, and easy to use. Its compact size leaves lots of room on your countertop for other things. It gets hot enough to use for any food, either to cook or just to keep hot. I love the white color as well. It heats up and cools off quickly. My only criticism is that the dial does not have numbers to judge the amount of heat that is being produced. It goes from 0 to Hi, so you have to estimate the amount of heat you want. Moderately priced, it's an excellent value. Courant has always produced quality appliances, in my opinion.

This burner is outstanding. I purchased three other types from the seller, and those were awful. All three of them cannot maintain heat; they cook and then auto shut off, then will come on again. It is a safety mechanism, I guess, to control the temperature of the food, but I wanted to boil water, so this was impossible to do. Then I got this handy thing, and it is just like a single cooktop. It can fry, boil water, and cook just about anything. Just use the right size pan, and it is great for travel; we take ours to any hotel that does not have a kitchen.

Great little burner! We are without a kitchen (stove, counters, etc) for two weeks for a remodel. While the grill, air fryer, and oven are all options, I would like to make eggs and boil pasta, both staples for my kiddos. I made eggs for breakfast with this right out of the box, and it cooked them just fine. It won't be used that often after the kitchen is completed, but it is perfect in a pinch. I probably will not use it for long simmering or complex dishes. I'll keep it as a backup for sure! If you need a basic burner, this is a great budget option.
