I am happy with this portable stove for my kitchen remodel. It's light and I can use it on a table or in my bedroom. It boils water and fries food, though the bottom gets hot and one burner is slightly less hot. I found grill liners for heat protection and spillage at Valu.

I had to remove my gas stove due to health reasons, so the housing authority suggested getting a hot plate. I tried a few that were defective, but the one I have now works really well. I used it to heat up soup and make coffee and I'm satisfied with it.

Inefficient heat transfer design

I preferred the Proctor Silex over the Ovente because it heats faster and is easier to clean. The Ovente's coils are not flat and the pots and pans move around while cooking. Additionally, the Ovente takes longer to heat up and the unit gets very hot. I would purchase the Proctor Silex again, but not the Ovente.

The decision to ship the package in its original box was crazy. The burner came broken and caused me to cut my hand while unboxing it. One burner doesn't work. However, the manufacturer was nice and helpful, and sent me a new one that works great.
