I needed a replacement for my old hand mixer and decided on the Courant. It's light and has a much better range of speeds than my old mixer. The Smooth Start feature starts fast and then slows down, but I've learned to work with it. By lifting the beaters out of the bowl before the true speed kicks in, I can avoid making a mess at the slowest speed. The variable speeds are gentle and effective for stirring and whipping eggs. It's also good for gentler tasks like stirring cookie dough. While it's not super light, it's still easy to hold for a few minutes. I just have to make sure my hands are dry to avoid it slipping around on the plastic. Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase.

I've been extremely impressed with this mixer. It has incredible power for a hand mixer and I definitely recommend it, along with all Courant products. While they may be more expensive than other brands, in my opinion they are well worth the investment as they have proven to be very durable.

It has good power and nine different speeds, so it can handle most tasks, but I haven't tested it with heavier jobs like bread dough. I needed an upgrade and I am impressed with the variety of beaters included and the power of the mixer. My only quibble is that it comes with rounded wire beaters instead of the usual flat metal ones, which means you may need to mix at higher speeds for longer. I've had the Courant hand mixer for 30 years and it still works great, but the eject function was getting difficult. I ordered this new one and it's just like my old one. I love how easy and lightweight it is to use, and it works great on all kinds of batter. It's also easy to clean and store. I hope it lasts as long as my old one.

After using the mixer for the first time, my initial impression was positive. It was well packaged and the product looked great. I was impressed with the power, but I was not a fan of the initial surge the mixer had. I am also concerned that the plastic case may not last as long as the mixer itself. My daughter used this mixer to make the birthday cake and the beaters held up well, working fantastic. I was initially concerned about using the wire beaters, but they mixed the batter better than any other mixer I've used. The lack of a post in the middle of the beaters and the thinner beaters meant that there was no excess dough or batter on them. The cookies came out great, so overall, it has worked fairly well.

I did notice a slight surge when turning it on, but it wasn't a big issue for me. It hesitates for a second, then surges slightly before slowing down to the correct speed. Despite this, I didn't find it to be a problem or to make a mess. The slight surge only lasts for a second or two.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks, so I can't speak to its long-term durability. But for now, I'm very pleased with it.

The reviewer initially thought that the SmoothStart feature would cause the mixer to start slowly in order to prevent ingredients from splattering, but they discovered that it actually starts off at a much faster speed. They suggested starting the mixer outside of the bowl and then placing it in once it slows down, and questioned the purpose of the SmoothStart feature. Overall, they found it puzzling but not a huge issue.

The box was damaged but the mixer was in good condition and very nice and lightweight. If this was meant to be a gift, I would have had to return it because of the damaged box. The outer delivery bag was fine, indicating that the damaged box was put in already damaged.
