I had to remove my gas stove due to health reasons, so the housing authority suggested getting a hot plate. I tried a few that were defective, but the one I have now works really well. I used it to heat up soup and make coffee and I'm satisfied with it.

I have used this type of portable burner when I was younger and living in a studio. This model and brand is about the same as I used then. The temperature control works fine, but be aware that even if you have one of the burners turned on high, it will only reach a certain temperature before it turns off. So, if you want super hot heat that stays on high, you will not get that. On the other hand, I haven't found any sort of dish that really required the burner to stay on super hot for an extended period of time. But if, say, you were trying to bring a large vessel of water to boil, it will take awhile. The main drag in using these little burners is they are difficult to clean as you can't disassemble or take out the heating element to clean the drip bowls. So, try not to let anything boil over or you'll have to try and squeeze a rag or paper towel in between the element to clean. All of these portable burners have the same trouble unless you get into serious money. Overall, it is serving its purpose.

I use this in my office for heating a tea kettle, and it does a great job of that. I like that it uses an old-school burner, as those last for ages and can probably even be replaced if necessary.

The hot plate works well and is affordable. The only knock I have is that I'd want the plates to be a little further apart. It's a little tight if you're using a bigger frying/saut��ing pan and need to do something else on the other burner as well. But it kept power in both.

The item is basic. It takes some time to boil water. Often the control knob itself heats up. Any pan used must be in complete contact with the element or the heating is spotty. For my needs, I am mostly satisfied with my purchase.

We recently hosted a family dinner and I was making Philly cheesesteaks for the clan. I make a from-scratch cheese sauce, and the only issue with it is that it congeals rapidly when removed from heat. We were eating downstairs, so keeping it on the stove wasn't a viable option. After a little comparison shopping, I settled on this model, and it fits the bill perfectly.

It's lightweight so it's easy to move quickly on our limited counter space. It heats rapidly, and easily gets hot enough for your usual stovetop requirements. I set both burners on low and it kept the sauces nice and warm for the duration of the dinner. It may not be as fancy looking as a standalone induction burner, but if you are more focused on usefulness than appearance, it's a great choice.
