Handy Appliance with a Minor Flaw

I bought this to make quesedillas and hot toasted sandwiches and the like for one person and it does a good job. You should know that this is not a contact grill, meaning, when you close it, the top will not press down on the food like a George Foreman grill unless whatever you put in there is super thick. The top is recessed back a bit.I had to flip a quesedilla and the bottom was very well done and the top was not. There was only a bit of brown in the center on top. I had no problem having to do that but be mindful that you'll have to flip or make very fat quesedillas. If you are using sliced bread, it may have better contact when you close it but I'm not sure yet. You can make a ton of stuff in here. Not sure I'd make a burger because I'd worry that the grease will drip off the sides but I could see cutting up a chicken breast cutlet, throwing it in there and closing it to make some grilled chicken to toss in a salad. Or toss some broccoli and cauliflower or brussel sprouts in some fat free italian dressing and putting that in there. I'm very glad that I bought the larger one because it looks like a mini item itself so I can only imagine what the mini one looks like. It fits a soft taco size tortilla perfectly. I'm taking off one star because in this day and age, no product-- especially a cooking appliance-- should be sold that does not have an on/off switch. If you are using a power strip or outlet that is not in the most convenient place, having to plug and unplug to use it is a bit of a nuisance. Pro tip: You can buy a plug that has an on/off switch on it that you can plug this unit into and switch it on and off that way. Search for wall plug with switch on Seller to see what I mean. I'm very pleased and will definitely be using this often. I do wish though that it was available in black. My kitchen has black and stainless and the red grill is a red herring but I care more about function than appearance so it's okay.
