This heater heats up quickly and gets hot all over. It would be more energy efficient and safer with thermal insulation. The temperature control works well, but the lettering on the dials may rub off. It needs to be run outside for a few hours to get rid of the factory smell before using it indoors.

This stove is simply amazing.

It retains heat very well and is easy to control with the temperature knob. I used a heat gun to check the temperature and found it reached a maximum of 950 degrees Fahrenheit, which is plenty for canning. I operate mine between 2 and 3 and it heats up quickly. I'm very happy with this product and recommend it to others.

I rarely write reviews, but I was really impressed with this product. I had considered buying cheaper hot plates for my kitchen remodel, but I was put off by their instability and inability to get hot enough. I eventually decided to purchase this one and I'm so glad I did. I followed the start-up guide and let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes, and although there was initially a slight odor, it dissipated quickly. The hot plate got quite warm on medium heat and heated up our unheated kitchen corner. The temperature dials were a bit hot to the touch, but not too much to handle. When we tested it with a pot of soup, it started bubbling within a minute. The cast iron plate heated up quickly and evenly, although it retains heat so it's not very responsive to changes in temperature. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase and can see myself using it even after the remodel is done.
